WebRTC Signaling Playground

WebRTC connects two browsers directly, but first they must exchange session descriptions through a signaling channel. This page does not run a server: you copy the offer and answer between the two peer panels (or two tabs), and the browsers then attempt a direct data channel.

Offer, answer and ICE

SDP (Session Description Protocol) is the text that lists codecs, media lines and transport parameters. One peer creates an offer, the other replies with an answer. ICE candidates describe the network paths each peer can be reached on; they are usually trickled separately but are included here once gathering finishes.

Without at least one candidate the peers cannot connect, which is common on networks that block UDP or expose no usable interface. A TURN server relays traffic when direct paths fail. WebRTC media is encrypted with DTLS-SRTP by default.
