Fine-tuning adapts a base model to your domain, format, or style, but the dataset matters more than the training run. Good datasets are clean, diverse, correctly labeled, and free of leakage and licensing problems. Bad datasets bake in bias and produce confident nonsense. Invest in data curation before spending on compute.
